KHADIJA SALUM ABDALLAH

CEng. Khadija Salum Abdallah is a Civil and Structural Engineer and engineering leader with over 14 years of experience in structural engineering, construction management, quality assurance, project coordination and institutional leadership. She currently serves as Manager of the Engineering Section at the Tanzania Buildings Agency (TBA), leading structural engineering functions, design review and certification, and ensuring safe, quality and cost-effective engineering solutions.

She has progressed from Site Engineer to senior technical leadership, serving as Structural Engineer, Quality Assurance Engineer, Project Coordinator and Regional Manager for TBA Singida. She has contributed to major public infrastructure projects, including district courts, government offices, educational facilities, drainage works, University of Dar es Salaam Students’ Hostels, Magomeni Quarters, Ukonga Prison Officers’ Apartments and Njombe Regional Office Block.

CEng. Khadija holds a BSc in Civil and Structural Engineering and a Master of Engineering Management from the University of Dar es Salaam. She is registered with ERB as a Consulting Engineer (CE 539) and Professional Engineer (PE 4251) and is a member of IET and its Women Chapter.

Beyond her professional duties, she has contributed to national technical assignments, including the Kariakoo building collapse investigation and multi-storey building inspections, and initiatives supporting girls’ education and innovation in infrastructure. She is also an active advocate for women’s leadership and professional development in engineering.

Her combination of technical excellence, progressive leadership, public infrastructure impact and commitment to advancing women in engineering makes her a strong candidate for Women Engineer Leader of the Year.
